Dollywood's DreamMore Resort and Spa
This resort is perfect for kids of all ages! We stayed in a Junior Suite and had so much space. The room had a king sized bed, bunk beds, and a pull out couch. Since our son is still sleeping in his crib we brought his pack and play along. We simply pulled the couch off the wall and put his pack and play behind there and he slept great! One day he will get to sleep in the bunk bed and will love it! There was even a wet bar area with a fridge and this was a perfect area to set our snacks and water. There was even a cubby area for suitcases. Right inside the door are hooks and this was great to hang important items you did not want to lose.Friday: Check In Day
When we arrived on Friday we walked around the resort and made our way to the Song and Hearth for dinner. This was a self-serve styled meal. It was nice, but a little pricey at $39.95 each. Since our son is under 4 he ate free. After dinner we walked around some more and our son enjoyed the playground for a bit. The equipment was split into an area for smaller kids and then bigger kids. Camp DW has a nightly s'more roasting at the fire pit, which is right behind the pool and near the playground. It is from 7-8 each evening and there is even music around 7:30. We loved this part of the evening and looked forward to this each night. The musician even brought egg shakers for the little ones to make music and Samuel loved this. Right beside the fire pit is the barn and they have a nightly story at 8. We tried this, but Samuel was too wound up from his s'more to enjoy the story.Saturday: Resort Day
Sunday: Splash Country
Sunday we got up early for breakfast at DM Pantry and to head to Splash Country. When we booked the hotel there was a promotion for free tickets. The park was open from 10a-6p. We boarded the trolley and got dropped off at the entrance around 9:30. They opened the gates a little early and held guests at a certain point until the park opened. This was nice because we knew we wanted to purchase a type of shelter for the day to have a shade space. Once we entered the park I went to the Retreat & Canopy Rental Location and was able to purchase a canopy for the day for $65. There are 38 canopies available. This was a great option to have shade available to us to keep cool for the day. It also came with a lockbox for our valuables. We enjoyed lunch here and Samuel even took a nap.
The canopy location was perfect for us because it was right beside The Cascades. This is where we spent the majority of our time because the beach entry pool was nice along with the water features (Samuel loved the turtle that squirted water). There was even a slide where three people could ride side by side down. We loved this one and Samuel even worked up to riding down the slide by himself! We also spent some time at Bear Mountain Fire Tower (this was geared towards older kids), Little Creek Falls, and Mountain Waves. When we were ready to head out we went back towards the entrance and waited a few minutes for a tram ride back to the resort.Once we were back at the resort we put some things back in our room and headed towards the pool area. We ordered dinner from the poolside menu again, but this time tried out their smoked pulled pork quesadilla. It was delicious and we highly recommend it! After dinner and some water play we headed back to the fire pit for a s'more and some tunes. What a long, but great day!
Monday: Check Out Day
Monday morning we had breakfast at the DM Pantry and ordered some egg sandwiches. They were pretty good. We got things packed up, moved the car to 10 minute parking, loaded things up, visited the gift shop, and headed home.
We will be heading back to DreamMore in September for a family reunion. One of the days we plan to go to Dollywood Theme Park and we will get to enjoy the Harvest Festival. We are excited to go back and try out the Family Suite to compare the two rooms and see what we like best. Stay tuned!
